A man, a plan, a cat, a ham, a yak, a yam, a hat, a canal — Panama!

Hello! I’ve been invited to this blog by the very shiny Martin Poulter, to discuss, vent, rant or inform on some of the interesting and amusing technologies that I use on a day to day basis.

In reality, I’m Gaby Vanhegan, sysadmin for the Subject Centre for Philosophical and Religious Studies, based in Leeds, currently building their brand new website and CMS, as well as running their existing web services, hosting plaform and email.

What do I like? I like design patterns, flexible data interchange formats, MVC structures, regex patterns and using the right tool for the job. I don’t like enormous DTD’s, the idea that one size fits all, cold weather, and having to manually populate metadata fields.

Pictures available on request.

You forgot a tic, a sun, an anus, a citadel etc. Seriously though, ta for the introduction, Gaby. (PS you do know this isn’t a personals site, don’t you?)
